Veterinary Doctor - Dr. Lois Sargent

Dr. Lois Sargent is a part-time veterinarian at Knowles Animal Clinics-Central where she works primarily the emergency shifts. However, she brings a unique style of treatment as she practices homeopathy and acupuncture on a variety of patients.After completing veterinary school, Dr. Sargent studied acupuncture with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, (IVAS) from 1997-1998 and was certified in 1998. In addition, she studied classical homeopathy with Dr. Richard Pitcairn, DVM from 2000-2001. Certification as a veterinary homeopath is currently pending as the process can take years to complete. In addition to these formal classes, she has studied herbal medicine, incorporating both Eastern & Western formulas, as well as various aspects of nutrition.

Dr. Sargent is involved with many veterinary organizations. In addition to the AVMA and FVMA, she also participates in the AHVMA (American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association), where she has been a member of the board from 2002-2005. She is a member of the VBMA, (Veterinary Botanical Medical Association), where she has held the office of secretary since 2001. Other memberships include the AAVA, (American Association of Veterinary Acupuncturists), and IVAS.
